Full Description

Tea, also referred to as Camellia Sinsensis, is an agricultural product of leaves and buds prepared and cured by various methods to create different tastes. It is an aromatic beverage when combined with hot water to create a cooling, and slightly bitter astringent flavour. It is the most widely-consumed beverage after water. The most commonly found types of tea in the market are black tea, oolong tea, green tea, white tea, and pu-erh tea. Beyond tea, herbal infusions or tisanes are categorized within tea drinking family. Tisanes are combinations of fruit and herbs and don’t actually contain the Camellia Sinensis component.

Around five thousand years ago, The Chinese Emperor Shen Nung – Divine Healer, was revered as a great teacher of agriculture and herbal medicine. He taugh his people the value of the land and cultivation along with the wisdom to boil water to make it safer to drink and to extend longevity. While working in his garden, he was sipping a cup of hot water when he noticed that a few leaves of a nearby Camellia bush had fallen into his cup. Sipping the mixture of water and leaves, he discovered a refreshing, yet invigorating combination and thus, TEA was born.
